Who are CORGI?
CORGI is the old name for the national watchdog for gas safety in the United Kingdom.
Their aim is to make the life of the consumer easier by regulating the home gas industry, ensuring that the trades people working in your home are safe and competent. 9 out of 10 people know the CORGI name and that it stands for safety and professionalism.
Only CORGI approved engineers can legally work on your gas appliances.
Why are CORGI important for your safety?
CORGI estimate that there could be as many as 20,000 people working illegally on gas in the UK. Around 20 people per year die of carbon monoxide poisoning in the UK.
With Carbon Monoxide poisoning claiming needless lives you must never use an illegal gas worker, they could put you and your family in danger.
How can boiler insurance help?
Having gas boiler insurance for your boiler means you’ll have peace of mind should you need any emergency repairs, and at the fraction of the cost of a standard gas boiler engineer call out charge.
By including an annual inspection with your gas boiler insurance, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that your boiler will be working safely and efficiently all year round. Both Homeserve and British Gas offer boiler insurance, and all work is carried out by fully-qualified CORGI gas engineers, ensuring the safety of you and your family.
How do CORGI help improve gas safety?
The goal of the CORGI gas safety watchdog is to make more people safer in their home and at work when they use different types of trades people. In order to do this they keep a register of professionals who can carry out work safely and competently in your home.
You must always ask to see the CORGI ID card of anyone who comes into your home. This card tells you clearly what types of work the person is able to carry out for you. Both Homeserve and British Gas use only CORGI registered gas engineers.
CORGI are working hard to improve standards in industry and help train and educate the trades people that come into your home to improve safety.
