How can you make your office meetings greener and more eco friendly?
- Reduce amount of travel required by using video conferencing / conference calls.
- Reduce amount of printing by using projectors or laptops.
- When planning meetings always advise attendees whether they are required to bring copies of documentation with them to ensure that unnecessary printing does not occur.
- When printing is essential
- Print back to back
- Print in black and white
- Share copies
- Don’t print extra copies “just in case”
- If using powerpoint, print with more than one slide to a page using the handout option
- Ensure all unwanted documentation is recycled
- Reuse plastic wallets/folders if needed at all
- When creating meeting documentation
- Reduce number of bullet points per slide
- If you have a long presentation for information use powerpoint not word.
- Reduce use of plastic cups by bringing your mug/glass into meetings with you.
- Consider whether you need lights on in the room and make sure that you turn them off as you leave.
- Consider whether air conditioning/heating is required before switching on and ensure that they are switched off when you leave.
- Ensure that all IT equipment is switched off when not in use (especially projectors).
- Try to use laptops not paper for minute taking (they are usually typed up later anyway).
